Mouth guards

Custom-made mouth guards can be used to protect your teeth during contact sports. We can also use the same techniques and tools to create night guards which protect your teeth from the effects of bruxism (clenching and grinding teeth).

Treatment steps

  • Your dentist takes impressions and checks how your teeth bite together.
  • This information is used by dental technicians to produce a well-fitting mouth guard.
  • When this is ready, your dentist will pop it in place to make sure it fits comfortably over your teeth & instruct you on how to use it.

Sports guards

Sports guards are designed to be worn over your teeth to provide protection when playing contact sports such as rugby, hockey and cricket. Custom-made from a comfortable, pliable material, they keep your teeth safe if you suffer a blow to the face.

They can protect against chips, cracks or tooth loss, helping to avoid the need for more involved, expensive treatment, not to mention considerable pain and inconvenience.

Tailor-made gum shields offer much better protection than those that can be bought over-the-counter as they are designed to fit your teeth perfectly.

Night guards

Teeth grinding and clenching of the jaw (known as bruxism) usually occurs unconsciously while you are sleeping and is generally caused by stress and anxiety. Bruxism can cause tooth wear, breakage and sensitivity.

Wearing a custom-made mouth guard at night can help protect your teeth. They can also help prevent any jaw related problems that can become a result of bruxism.
