Teeth Whitening

Teeth can lose their natural whiteness for a number of reasons including diet, ageing, certain medications, smoking and trauma, but a noticeably brighter smile can be achieved with teeth whitening – a safe, chemical process that eliminates discolouration. It will only work on natural teeth and will not be effective on restorations such as crowns, veneers or dentures. However, these may be able to be replaced to match newly whitened teeth.

At Charlton Village Dental & Aesthetic Practice we offer professional laser whitening and if you prefer to do it yourself, our home whitening kits provides safe and effective treatment under the guidance of one of our qualified dentists.

In our practice, an assessment will always be carried out prior to any whitening treatment to ensure you are suitable for whitening.

 

Laser Whitening

Laser whitening takes place in our practice. Before the appointment a consultation will be required.

During the appointment, whitening gel is applied on your teeth and using a bright light to accelerate the process.

It takes under two hours and is ideal for those who want noticeable results more quickly.

Aftercare

You can help maintain the whiteness of your teeth by avoiding food and drink that may cause staining, and brushing your teeth at least twice a day.

Home whitening
  • If you prefer home whitening kits, then we recommend that you use our professional kits.
  • Our whitening kits are safe and effective, and by using ours, it will allow us to monitor your teeth, help avoiding side effects such as gum irritation and tooth sensitivity.
During a Home whitening appointment,
  • Impressions are taken of your teeth so customised whitening trays can be produced to fit comfortably and securely.
  • The trays are worn daily with a bleaching gel for a specified length of time.
  • After completing the course of treatment (normally after a couple of weeks), you will attend a follow-up appointment to check your teeth have been successfully lightened.
